ROAD TRIP time.................

TGIF! What a week... emotional tuesday when my Preds lost in game 6 to Chicago.... they played hard and I was proud of them,. great season boys... bring on 2010-2011!!!

Wed I finally met with Jon who had posted an ad on gumtree (like kijiji or craigslist) to travel around Australia..... we met up wed and had a great chat about where to go, when to go... what to do along the way etc... He is very easy going and chill and we both are flexible with where we go and we just want to enjoy the trip, not rush to anything!

So I decided we should leave friday (yes today) so that I could work my week shifts and say goodbye, for now, to Cvd!

Worked my fairy job wed and thurs. Went out last night with Carolyn and Jon to have dinner and drinks and enjoy my last night in Sydney for now. We ate down at Darling Harbour and enjoyed sitting by the water and seeing the lights reflect off the water.

I had a wonderful milk hot chocolate from the LINDT store down there.... yummy!

Came home to clean up and pack my stuff.... well get it ready to pack!

Today I am packing my bags and packing up the Troopy (truck) and we will head south! Melbourbe might be a bit chilly, its autumn now and the nights are cooler...but we will be fine, its not COLD out :P

We are hanging out in Melbourne then we will drive to Adelaide and somewhere along the way I will learn to drive on the other side of the road, and the Troopy is 5 speed... so it will be GREAT!

From Adelaide we will drive straight north to the middle of Aus, which is Ayers rock and then camp there a bit, then drive all the way north to Darwin.

We have no time limit or set times to travel.. so depends what we want to see and so along the way we'll be in the north in a few weeks or months... time will tell!

I want to see the 12 Apostles (rock formation) Ayers Rock, Whispering Wall, Kangaroo Island, The Olgas, Monkey Mia and Coober Pedy which is an underground village!

Hope to keep you all updated along the way.... we will have wi-fi on Jon's laptop right in the truck, but just depends how often I am on it that I will blog!

Happy Birthday to Jeremiah, Sarah G, Roman, Kate and many others....

It is now monday and I had such a busy weekend I was hardly online! I have now been in Sydney for ONE MONTH already.. can you believe it?

Thursday last week I walked 2 hours south on the coastal walk from Bondi beach to Maroubra beach.. was amazing! So many beautiful beaches and waves, water and more..

Perfect day.. then I met Zan at the beach for a chill afternoon, we walked along the beach and just soaked up the sun! That was his first time at Maroubra beach and he lives here :P


Thurs night Preds lost and we WANT/NEED them to win game 6 tonight and game 7!! We can do it!
I also moved into a new and FREE place with a nice guy named Ken! Crashing here until I travel again... which I hope is THIS week!!!


Friday I walked to the mall up the street to see Carson from Queer eye for the straight guy... he is going mall to mall to give make overs and just be funny! So I watched him and they gave 8 people makeovers, I got a pic with him and he signed my booklet thing :P

Fri Sat and Sun night I worked at Rolo's cafe..... BUSY! Saturday I went to the races with CVD and Miranda and we went early to see the set up etc.. we got our faces painted a lil in the kiddie area.. was fun! Carolyn won on 2 races!
Sunday Carolyn and I headed to HILLSONG church over in the Hills.... it was nice and of course BIG and stuff but it was just OK in my books..... music was great.. but I think OASIS in Nashville is better! It was baby dedication day.. too cute and they invited the guests of families to join for tea... well Carolyn and I were SO COLD... it was raining and the A/C was on in the church so we snuck into the family tea area to cash in on free tea:P
Sunday was also ANZAC Day (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) like our Nov 11th.. so there were free anzac biscuits at church too!

Today is now monday and I spent time watching Lucas through web cam today and that made my day :) I love to watch him.. even when he is silly.. esp when he is talking and counting and always being cute!
Then I spent a few hours TRYING to get some online banking sorted... man I was losing patience with CIBC telephone help :P Thankfully everything worked out!

I watched Ellen and that made me happy again too!
Off to Eastgardens mall to maybe buy a lil gift for the CUTEST BOY IN THE WORLD.. yup Lucas!

Coincidence??? no way jose

So yesterday my blog was called "sunshine, lollipops and rainbows....

and today when I woke up early I heard some rain so I looked out my bedroom window to see this:

So that started off my day perfectly!!!!

I went to work and thought I would be late, its hard to figure out trains and buses and where to go sometimes. I arrived right on time!

Janelle my co-worker (who also used to work on cruise ships) and I dress as fairies and had out flyers to parents and balloons to children.... VERY easy and sometimes FUN!

This guy wanted to be in a picture with me, so I gave him a balloon! :)

The costumes are funny but who cares it is such an easy job and its good money... so I will dress however they tell me too!

We also get paid for our lunch break so we went to a cute cafe for wraps today!

We were in a place that wasn't too busy so we made the afternoon fly with a lil photo shoot (see facebook!)

Another beautiful day and very hot for this time of year! It is suppose to get to 30 degrees on Thurs :)

I am excited for this weekend....lots going on-Carson at the mall, Horse Races sat, maybe work or maybe a Rugby game, then ANZAC day (like nov 11) here sunday and CVD and I are going to make our own Anzac buscuits (traditional Anzac day treat)... wish us luck! I am excited to spend lots of time with her this weekend as I am hoping to leave Sydney soon.. but I will be back.

Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows

It is monday night here in the land down under...... what a BEAUTIFUL day!

I got to watch the PREDS game live on the computer today which was great (Thanks Paul) but sad they lost... good thing its ONLY game two. Series is now 1-1.... bring on game 3 at HOME!! booyah!

I went to the beach this afternoon to read my book and enjoy life.... I even went for a dip in the ocean, I know I have been to the beach LOTS but have not actually gone under the water yet :P well the waves are BIG and the current is strong!

I went for a BIG run tonight... around this big park by my house... last time I ran around it and so tonight I ran around it twice- felt good! I stopped after my run to watch some locals play flag rugby (instead if tackle) and was good for like 5 mins..... til I saw the HUGE bats that were flying about around the tree tops above me and i thought that I should head home before one eats me :p j/k

I am working my 2 jobs this week.. I hand out flyers in the day Tues-Thurs and then I work at the Cafe Fri-sun! I am moving to a new place on M

onday next week... a FREE place to crash and rest my head.... I love FREE! 

Then I am going to plan my next adventure.... ready to travel and see new places! Trying to find other travelers online to catch a ride with... share gas/driving etc....

I'll be safe so don't worry..... 

Carson from "Queer eye for the straight guy" will be at the mall near my house on fri morning so I am going to check that out.. he is helping people dress and giving make overs and tips etc... plus autograph signing!

Sat Carolyn and I are going to the races together... so many hot men there she has to come and see! Then sunday for sure we are going to head to HILLSONG church and check it out! 

Busy weekend ahead!

My friend LANCE PATRICK is coming to Aus this week... I am Uber excited to see him... I have not seen him in years! He is coming for the comedy festival here and might even get a spot on stage and do some stand up!!!!

I will post more pics later..... and I will earn how to post them properly on here :P

And the Race is ON......

Yesterday was a busy day.... I was listening to my PREDS play their first playoff game vs Chicago.. listening online cuz it was 10:30am here when the game started.
Then I had to get ready to head to James' to head to the Races today! We had lunch at the Doncaster pub then walked to the racetrack.
Beautiful sunny day!




It was such a great thing to see... everyone SO dressed up like the fanciest wedding party and miles of hot men in suits.. was a PERFECT DAY!
I placed a few bets... didn't win. It was fun just to watch it all and meet people and drink champagne and be outside in the sun!
There were only 8 races and they go every 40 mins or so.. so it sort of flies by but what a great experience.



I had to run right after though (sadly) I had to be at work by 6pm.... so I jump on a bus that I thought took me toward my home... and this one stopped at the beach so I had to wait for another then RUN home in my Bare feet... quickly change from my dress to my work clothes and run into work by 6.. I got there about 6:03, whew!

Work is easy n good, busy night at the Cafe which I love... meeting new people and such. I met an Irish girl last night who worked at the Skydome years ago and then moved here and fell in love and never left. Everyones got a story!

Today is sunny so I should go hang my laundry out to dry and hit the beach for some reading in the sun!!

GO PREDS GO! they won 4-1 in game 1..... Woot!

Braids braids I want braids

Hello friends, family and anyone else who wandered upon this blog :P

I was just eating some supper and watching the news about TOILETS somewhere... weird!

I love FREE food and Sunshine! Today was a great day starting with an adventure with CVD to find the bus to Coogee beach... lol we never found one that went.. so we aborted that mission and headed to Maroubra beach to enjoy the sun!
We laid out for a bit then went for lunch at Maroubra Bay Hotel, nice! More sun with some fun. We did some stretching and lots of laughing, picture taking, cartwheels in the sand, more laughing, lots of guy watching and a lil drooling, lots of sun til it got windy.
She got on the bus and I walked home, still nice out just gets cooler with the wind off the water!
I ate a nice spaghetti dinner with a great salad with free chicken from my housemate- yum!

Lots of 80's gear today... SOooo many kids around cuz they have Easter break from school for 2 weeks, lucky ones!
Tonight I am going to check out a new place to live/crash.. .and its FREE... for 2 weeks... I love people!
I hope it is nice... seems ok from the sounds of it, nice quiet building!

I am working 2 jobs tomorrow and working at the Cafe all weekend, which means making some cash! My one boss today called and asked me to work Tues-Thurs 9-2 and I get paid through my 1hour lunch each day.. plus more work at the Cafe next weekend!

I love that when I wake up its night time the day before back home in Ont... so some friends/family online and then at night here its morning same day in Ont, so some people online!

So this sunday CVD and I are actually going to get to HILLSONGS church for a great day of song and worship! I will stay with her sat night so we can hop on the train in the morning... and we are going to attempt FRENCH braids in our hair... lol I am sure there will be laughs and pics and maybe even a decent braid... we'll see :P

I am getting antsy to travel.... a few options I am looking at,.... hope I find something great... I would love to road trip for a few months... go see some sites then head to another Major City to find more work and a cheap place to crash!

If anyone has friends/family in Australia let me know in case I head their way... would love to say hi and meet people all over!

I am sooo excited for PLAYOFF hockey.... few games have already been played... PREDS start April 16- GO PREDS GO!

Also... UBER excited to see LANCE PATRICK who is coming to Oz APril 20th for the Comedy festival and might even do some on stage stand up!!! I love seeing friends here from back home!! I have not seen Lance in years, so this is extra special!

I love weekends!

I have been waitressing every night since thurs, and tonight I am on my own... usually we have 2 girls, but tonight is MY night... I can do this!
Yesterday I went to the library and took out some books and dvds ( i love free movies)
I was reading my book in my backyard on a blanket and my housemate Natalie asked if I wanted to go to the beach.. HELL YA! So we jump on her bikes and bike to the beach, PERFECT day.. sunny with a bit of wind and not too busy! We chatted as we sun tanned... then she headed back to get ready for work, I stayed longer. Long enough to hear the ALARM at the beach.. which could mean SHARK or MISSING PERSON... I thought it was SHARK warning... they had boats and sea doo's and helicopters all circling the area... not sure what it was all for, for sure but it was exciting!
I rode home an eat dinner, then got ready for work. Sat night wasn't too busy which was nice. They always make us pizza to eat near the end of our shift... but I REALLY do not want to eat pizza every night.... I shall take it home for the next days lunch if anything.. no more eating after 9 pm!
I went next door to the pub to grab a drink.. they have different kinds of Strongbow... weird, I just drank Reg.
My co-worker met me there for a drink, he is moving to NS for school in Sept so he has MANY questions about Canada.. which I am happy to try and answer!
We drove to a beach to check out the sea port lights, then home.

So today is Sun and I woke up thinking I was going to Hillsong Church but change in plans. SO I was up in time to listen to the PREDS last home game online... its still 0-0 in the 3rd... I am hoping/praying for a WIN!!!
Also so proud for TIM BRENT playing up in the NHL tonight vs Montreal!!! No points but he had a few shots on net!! Leafs won in OT.

Its so nice out, I really want to go for a run to work out but not sure how far I can run in this heat!

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!Arnott scores Preds 1-0.... u get updates as I type :)

So my thoughts for the future:

A) travel north to Brisbane and see Rich D, then find a place and a job for a few months
OR
B) travel all over Australia for the next 3 months or so making a loop around this country... driving with another traveler hitting Brisbane, QLD, Darwin, maybe Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, then back to Sydney eventually.

Option B sounds great... I can see MANY places in a short time and then when we get back I can travel back to whatever city I loved most and find a place and job there.
I am leaning toward option B .. then I can go back and spend time with Rich and go meet Aliscia's family in Surfers Paradise, after I see MANY places.

You only live once... make the most of it right... so why travel and settle, travel and settle... just TRAVEL and then settle again after to make some more cash!!
The other traveler wants to leave in May.. so I would only work here for a few more weeks... seems so short, but I can see the few other things I want to see here... then move on to a new adventure!
I don't want to get comfortable anywhere... just passing through!

I am a working girl

I had an interview this morning, but it wasn't what I wanted, unless I was going to be here long term.
So I went to the beach this afternoon to soak up the sun!
I went to another interview.. well training I guess not interview.... went to learn to be a waitress... its something I have never done before, so why not try it right!
I am a waitress at Rolo's pizzeria and cafe.. it was busy tonight and there is alot to learn but its fun so far. It pretty easy for me to take orders, talk to people, bring food and clean up... I love all those things!
The cafe is right up the street from my place so I can walk to work in 2 mins!
They don't tip in Oz, but I made a few $$ in tips tonight.

Suppose to have group interview tomorrow but I didn't have time today to get my papers all photocopied- oops!

So in Aus... they don't use PENNIES.. they just round things up! The coins here are $2(looks like a token) $1, 50cent, 20cents, 10 and 5 cents! I took a pic today to show them all, I'll post it soon!

My housemates are great... I live with 4 other people in a cute lil house. Fei is my roommate, he is originally from China, Joesph is originally from Uganda, and Mario and Natalie are both from Aus. Fei has the biggest room in the house and so I rent out the "sun room" area.. which is pretty nice n roomy and has real walls etc... I have a bed and a desk and a mini fridge, just cuz I told Fei he didn't have to move it! I share a HUGE closet with Fei and the house has 2 bathrooms, livingroom, kitchen and nice size backyard with cute clothes line to dry our wash!

I went to a Comedy Show last night with a friend of a friend named James..... we sat in the front row! Mc/Host Comic was funny... local guy, but his jeans were too tight (literally)
first act was a new guy, he did about 3 mins, then another local guy, he was ok. Next was a hilarious lil guy who smiled ALOT and was sort of whispery and cute.... he almost seemed special needs.. but he was sooo funny... it hurt, was awesome!
The main act was Alonzo Bodden was the winner of last comic standing, he is from USA! He did a lot about Obama and American things... but def did some Oz jokes too! He was picking on a guy in the front row who would NOT stop texting... was so funny.
He came over to us and asked what my name was.. and what I do... I said Nothing (for job) and he said you just live off the land? and I said Yes.... and he said to James "Oh you must be the land" lol..... good times!

I had plans fri night and sat... but now I am working all weekend.. which is ok cuz I only work about 4 hours at night.. so I can hang with friends in the day and then go out after work if I want, cuz I end at 9 or 10!

wacky wednesday

I am not the best writer... but if you care to follow this then you'll get my lil updates on what is new and exciting in my crazy life down under!

Today I had 3 job interviews... 1st interview went great, I was late cuz I thought the bus was going close to where it was, but it didn't.. lol.. only 30 mins late... they didn't mind ( I love Aus) Pretty much got that job, but its part time so still looking for more! part time at $20/hr :)

Second job interview went well and I have a group interview friday to follow up on that!

The third one I cancelled.. i know i know... but I am going to a comedy show tonight and I am here to live life.. not work to live.... so rescheduled it for tomorrow night!

It rained this morning and thankfully my housemate Joseph lent me his umbrella and saved my day... would hate to show up to a job interview looking like a drowned rat!

Did you know in Aus:

-They call McDonalds "Macca's".... funny

-They dress like its the 80's, I saw pleated high waisted paints today that scared me!

-Taxes are included in prices, hence why some think its expensive here

-And you don't tip here.. which I love!

-News shows are so relaxed and funny... not so serious.

-Phone numbers are all random amounts of numbers, my cell is 10 digits but stores are 6 and 1-800#'s are 1-300 numbers here but only have 1-300-xxx-xxx 

-They have drive thru liqour stores

-They call red-headed people "ranga's".. like orangatang... not very nice

-Todays news a man got attacked by a wombat

-Tom Green and Pauly Shore are in town for comedy show (not the one I am going to tonight)

Just some things that I notice in my Aus life!

Tomorrow is suppose to be hot again- THANKFULLY..... I have an interview at 10:45am and then I can hit the beach until my other interview at 5pm.

The 5pm is a waitress job and I have never done or tried that before... so we'll see how it goes.

I am excited for sun and for work.. just so I can buy what I want!

It is Wed night now... but make you sure when it is YOUR wed night that you cheer for my PREDS vs Pheonix!!!!

Off to eat and then hit up comedy show!

2 week Update

hello friends and family,

It is tues night here and tomorrow will be 2 weeks in Australia!

So far I have seen Manly beach, Blue Mountains, Leura Cascades, Aussie Rules Football and more.

I have been on airplanes (to get here) trains, buses, taxis, ferries and walked many miles!

CVD has been the best showing me around Syndey and up and down King St in Newtown!

I have found a cute lil place to rest my head for now in Maroubra, lil suburb of Sydney. I can walk to shops, malls, post office, grocer, beach and anything else I need!

Tomorrow I have 3 job interviews and 1 thurs and 1 friday... so wish me luck as I see what job I might do for awhile here in Sydney.

I'd like to travel north after here.... head to Brisbane I think,... go see Rich Duroucher!
